  Jill Coulter, CPM, LM

  I began my midwifery practice in 2004 and opened BirthWise in 2008, the first freestanding birth center in North East WI. At the time, there was a significant void of options for women and their families when it came to birth. I wanted to offer a place of safety, support and joy for expecting families as the birth of a child is an amazing and transformative time for so many.

  Being a midwife for me is about the whole process and not just about catching a baby at the end. The absolute safest care is when we provide individualized care, build trusting relationships and provide support for women and families throughout this incredible journey. When I am not helping women grow and birth their babies, I keep busy in my own family life. I have been married for 17 years and have 4 amazing children that I enjoy spending time with on my days off.

  AnnMarie Rian, CPM, LM

  I have been working with mothers and babies since 2007, offering prenatal, birth and postpartum care at home and in the birth center setting. I believe that midwives offer the best combination of old wisdom and current, evidence-based practice for normal, healthy women throughout their childbearing experience.

  We are the guardians of normal birth, with the knowledge and skills to help keep birth healthy. I particularly love providing prenatal care, having the opportunity to get to know you and your family and your individual hopes and desires; my background includes study of herbs and alternative medicines, in particular for childbearing and womens’ health. My husband, daughter and I live in Appleton with our dog Nikko, and spend time reading, hiking, walking, traveling, gardening, playing, cooking and laughing.

  Tricia

  I am a midwifery student at Midwest Maternal Child Institute and have been working with BirthWise since June of 2012. In addition, I am a childbirth educator and enjoy teaching families about natural childbirth and their options. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with all of the BirthWise families.

  I am the office manager and will likely be the voice on the phone when you call the office and the first face you see when you walk in the door. I look forward to helping schedule your appointments, discuss finances and navigate the insurance world with you!

  Marijke van Roojen, CPM, LM

  Although Marijke is semi-retired at this time (she told us she would be too sad to retire altogether!), she continues to support us and the BirthWise families by assisting at births and providing midwifery care when needed. As a licensed midwife, Marijke brings 25 years of midwifery experience, is a neonatal resuscitation instructor, and has served on numerous oversight committees and boards. We are lucky to have her support.
